A mix of 4 different fibers with 4 different qualities. All of them are able to stand by themselves, but by mixing them they persuade to make an even better and stronger product.

Tencel/Lyocell (Eucalyptus or Bamboo)

Lyocell is a regenerated fiber which is recovered by Eucalyptus trees. The fabric is both quick drying and also has a good absorbency and therefore doesn’t absorb any sweat odor. Furthermore the fabric feels very light and soft and doesn’t irritate the skin.

Lyocell is produced in a very environmentally friendly process because of its closed loop, which means that all chemicals and water used are recycled.

An alternative to lyocel recovered by Eucalyptus trees, is lyocell recovered from bamboo. It involves the same process, but to avoid the cause of deforestation, bamboo is a better alternative. The bamboo tree grows faster than eucalyptus trees.

Pros :

  • Soft
  • Absorbent
  • Wrinkle resistant
  • Breathable
  • Anti-static
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Durable
  • Produced in a closed loop system
  • Biodegradable

Cons :

  • Expensive
  • Can require special care (watch label)
  • Energy intensive
  • Made of wood pulp – can cause deforestation (see bamboo lyocell)

Viscose or Rayon is the fiber that is most likely referred to as cotton, however, like Lyocell it is a regenerated fiber. It absorbs sweat, but loses 50% of its strength and original feel and shape when wet.

Furthermore, the fabric is very flexible and doesn’t get static, but unfortunately it wrinkles easily.

Pros :

  • Soft
  • Inexpensive
  • Absorbent
  • Anti-static

Cons :

  • Not very durable
  • Wrinkles
  • Shrinks
  • Toxic chemicals for workers
  • Contributes to greenhouse gasses and water contamination because of a non-closed loop system

Wool (natural fiber)

Wool is a natural fiber recovered from sheep. It is the most reusable and recyclable fiber that we know of. Even at its disposal stage it reduces the impact of the environment because of its biodegradability.

Pros :

  • Warm
  • Water resistant
  • Durable
  • Absorbent
  • Easily dyed
  • Biodegradable
  • Longevity

Cons :

  • Shrinks in hot water
  • Requires special care
  • Can be itchy
  • Animal cruelty issues
  • Chemicals and pesticides

Elastane  (synthetic fiber)

Elastane is the fiber that has the highest elasticity. We use this fiber because of it’s extensibility and flexibility which causes a better fit and movement to our products.

Pros :

  • Elastic
  • Helps clothes retain shape
  • Generally improves fit

Cons :

  • The elastic will break over time
